1. Introduction
FamSure is a family safety app. Members of a family group share their location, receive alerts when someone arrives at or leaves a saved place, and can send SOS alerts. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how it is protected.
2. Data We Collect
2.1 Account information
Depending on how you sign in: your phone number, email address, or Google / Apple ID identifier (via Firebase Authentication), plus the display name and the optional profile photo you choose.
2.2 Location data
While location sharing is on, the app reads your device GPS location and battery level and shares them with the members of your family group. With your permission, location is also collected in the background — even when the app is closed or not in use — so your family can still see where you are and receive place and SOS alerts. You can stop sharing at any time in the app, or turn off background location in your device settings.
2.3 Location history (Family and Care plans)
For groups on the Family or Care plan, your location history is stored so the group can see where members went each day (Family: last 3 days; Care: last 30 days, plus saved places). Older days are deleted automatically; after a plan downgrade, existing history is kept for 30 more days.
2.4 Emergency contacts (Care plan)
Group admins may save up to 2 emergency contacts for the group (name and phone number). They are stored with the group and visible to its members. When anyone in a Care-plan group triggers SOS, an SOS message with their location is sent to these numbers via WhatsApp using Twilio, and by SMS if the WhatsApp message is not read within 2 minutes or cannot be delivered.
2.5 Member phone numbers, safety checks and home-by times
A member, or an admin of their group, may save the member's phone number so the group can call them from the app; it is visible to the group's members. On the Care plan, when a member's phone stops reporting its location for the time an admin chose, the group is alerted and a member can record that they reached the person and that they are safe (with an optional note). If nobody confirms within about an hour, the group's emergency contacts receive an SMS asking them to check on the person, and a follow-up SMS once they are safe. A Care group can also set a time by which chosen members should be at a saved place; for those places only, the member's device reports whether it is inside the place (yes or no, not the coordinates), so the group can be alerted if they are not there in time.
2.6 Notifications and language
To deliver SOS and place alerts we store your device's Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token and your preferred app language in your profile.
2.7 Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Google Play or the App Store and managed through RevenueCat, which receives your account identifier and purchase status. We never receive your payment card details.
3. How We Use Your Data
- Show family members' locations on the group map.
- Send alerts when a member arrives at or leaves a saved place.
- Send SOS notifications to your group and, on the Care plan, WhatsApp or SMS messages to the group's emergency contacts.
- On the Care plan, alert the group when a member's phone stops reporting or a member is not at a place by the set time, and ask the emergency contacts by SMS to check on a member nobody could reach.
- Provide location history (Family and Care plans) and the Smart Timeline (Care plan).
- Sign you in, manage your groups and your subscription.
4. Data Sharing and Service Providers
We do not sell your personal data. Data is processed only by these service providers:
- Firebase (Google LLC) — sign-in, database, file storage, push notifications.
- Google Maps — map display and address lookup.
- Twilio — WhatsApp and SMS messages to emergency contacts (Care plan).
- RevenueCat — subscription management.
- Google AdMob — ads on the Free plan (see section 7).
5. Data Retention and Deletion
Your latest location is continuously overwritten. Location history is kept for 3 days on the Family plan and 30 days on the Care plan, then deleted automatically; you can also delete it at any time. SOS event data is deleted when the SOS ends. You can permanently delete your account from the Profile screen: this deletes your profile, your group memberships, your location history, your zone arrival and departure alerts and your profile photo. Deleting your account does not cancel a Google Play or App Store subscription — cancel it in the store.
Step-by-step instructions: Delete your FamSure account.
6. Security
Location coordinates are encrypted with AES-256-GCM using a key that belongs to your group. This key is stored in Firestore and can be read by the members of the group, so the encryption is not end-to-end. Firebase Security Rules limit access to authorized users, and all connections use HTTPS/TLS.
7. Advertising and Analytics
FamSure does not use third-party analytics. On the Free plan, Google AdMob may show ads after asking for your consent where required; Google may use your device's advertising identifier. You can limit personalized ads in your device settings. The Family and Care plans have no ads.
8. Children's Privacy
FamSure is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
9. Your Rights
You may access, correct or delete your personal data at any time from within the app or by contacting us. You may stop location sharing at any time.
